I’m very grateful to be home. I’m grateful for the end of an endless train ride home. I’m grateful for a lovely time with my daughter. I’m grateful for peace and equanimity. I’m grateful for the sunshine and coffee on the balcony. I’m grateful to be sober today.
I don’t want to get in the habit of adding extraneous stuff to the Gratitude List, but a couple of people have expressed discomfort with the discussion thread I started last night and thought I should address that:
We all know the injunction, “What you hear here, what you see here, let it stay here, here, here.” Personal anonymity is the foundation of the program, but the 5th Tradition says:
Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
Alcoholics Anonymous saved my life. My intention here is to find ways to share stories, spread the word and carry the message. I know how important the Big Book and what I heard at AA meetings was to my recovery and I’m just trying to find more ways to get the things that saved my life in front of more people. When I started the thread I wasn’t asking for anyone to breach their own personal anonymity or anyone else’s. I’m just looking to share and spotlight those gems we hear and then latch on to as part of our recovery. I didn’t mean to offend anyone or make anyone feel uncomfortable and I know how sensitive an issue this is. Anyway, hope we’re cool and see you tomorrow!
Thanks for Letting Me Share
I’m grateful for your podcast and for all the help and information I can get. Sobriety is hard and what you share helps!
I’m at 101 days! I’ve been sober as ling as fifteen years but foolishly thought I could be a normal drinker…that took me in a years long odyssey until I realized I’ll never be a normal drinker. So back in the sober saddle! The difference is that this time around I have technology and so many ways to get good and positive information like your podcast and musings!
