One year ago, I started doing a daily gratitude list, here was the first one:
I’m grateful for my children and the prospect of seeing them soon. I’m grateful to have so many friends in the program and to be able to get support at meetings. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be starting over and grateful to be able to do it here in New York. I’m grateful for the courage to sit through days like this. Grateful to have you as a sponsor and a friend.
When I started doing these lists, last November, I was new here in New York and things were pretty touch-and-go, writing these gratitude lists helped me make it through and I celebrated two years of sobriety on October 22nd. Everyone who gets this has a special place in my life and you all helped me stay sober through a pretty tough year. So, I’m grateful to be grateful, grateful to be sober today and grateful for all of you.
