I am so grateful to be sober today. I’m grateful for a gorgeous morning, a warm day, for a good weekend and a little extra rest this morning. I’m grateful for clarity, for vacation just 3 work weeks away, for my plants making it through the winter and for coffee. I’m grateful for AA, my sponsor and my sponsees.
Good morning my friends (: As per usual, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend you’re feeling rested for the week ahead!
I was thinking about what to write about earlier - maybe that I’m getting back into putting prayers into a God box (in this case it’s a jar but 6 in on half dozen in another I guess).
And then I was reminded that as of yesterday - I have officially read through all of the first 164 pages in the big book. I have officially gone through all 12 steps per the book. And I am really proud!!
I am so grateful for my sponsor who took me through the steps, has been by my side through many ups and downs and I almost feel like I should buy her a gift now that we’ve finished. And no, I will not be finding a new sponsor now. There is so much literature we can read through together and as she continues to go through the steps new ways, she can take me through the steps again in new ways.
I’ve been sponsoring for almost a year now so it feels a little weird that I’ve just now finished the book but I practice step 12 every day. But I am SO grateful for the almost year I’ve spent with my sponsees - my first sponsee got engaged over the weekend. And Timmy and I got to be there for it. My other sponsee got to run a half marathon over the weekend, something she’s really been wanting to do.
Watching these two women meet these milestones, be filled with joy, being able to be there for them and help them when things may not be so joyful, being able to share my experience with them and guide them is the greatest blessing.
So I’ve officially finished the steps. What’s next you may ask? Well, we’ll just do them all over again (;
Xx
