I’m grateful for a rainy, gloomy morning, since I have a lot to do. I’m grateful for libraries and books. I’m grateful for dinner with my sponsor. I’m grateful for seeing that there was another way. I’m grateful for the dogs in the building. I’m grateful to be sober today.
After I finished writing yesterday’s gratitude list, I recorded a voiceover of the post—so if you’d rather hear it than read it, I have you covered:
You know how we’re always tinkering for a better tomorrow over here at Sober HQ,1 and they seem to be up to the same thing here at Substack. Today, we’re going to add the Thanks For Letting Me Share subscriber chat!2
This is a conversation space in the Substack app exclusively for TFLMS subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. We’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come our way, and hopefully, you’ll jump into the discussion, too. I just posted a prompt, as a matter of fact, so hopefully you’ll be diving in very shortly.3 We’re going to be launching Big Book Study Groups here soon and think the chat feature will be a really cool addition to that effort, too.
I’m really hoping you check this out.
To join the Thanks for Letting Me Share chat, download the Substack app (messages are sent via the app, not email). 4 I think the app is really cool, it’s not part of some scam and there are no annoying ads—just lots of newsletters like this one and the ones our good friends write. 5
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Chat is only on iOS for now, but is coming to the Android app soon.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into the thread and say “Hi,” or share something you’re grateful for. Whatever, we’d just love to hear from you!
Thanks for Letting Me Share
Somewhat unrelated note, the “better tomorrow” line reminds me of the most disappointing aspect of visiting DisneyWorld in the 1970s: Using a “C” ticket to see kitchen appliances of the future. Ok, completely unrelated.
Yes, all of you are subscribers! Your friends could be, too…..Just saying.
Is there a prize for the first participant? Potentially.
Substack recommends that you “Turn on push notifications so you don’t miss a chance to join conversation as it happens.” I put this in a footnote for a reason.
Note to friends; I wonder whether there is a way to host these chats together?
Now this is a compelling use of the feature!
