I’m grateful for it being Friday. I’m grateful for an absolutely gorgeous morning. I’m grateful for Haydn symphonies playing. I’m grateful for quiet and peace. I’m grateful for seeing the importance of making space. I’m grateful for the conversations I get to have every day. I’m grateful for reminders to stay on task! I’m grateful for chances to do things differently. I’m grateful to be sober today.
It’s Friday and you know what that means? Well, I don’t actually have anything planned. I mean, I have things to do today, and among them is editing this week’s edition of Breakfast with an Alcoholic which features Jamee Sailor Rowe of Macrodosing.1 But don’t forget about my excellent breakfast with Joanna!
I’ve heard that people are saying the optimal experience is listening to the episode of Breakfast with an Alcoholic whilst reading the Liner Notes:
Well, how about a Friday discussion thread? Shall we try that? I hear a lot of great things at meetings. We all understand the importance of anonymity, but I think it’s at least equally important to get the message out—so let’s share great things we heard at a meeting:2
Something Great I Heard at a Meeting
Watch your inbox carefully this weekend as the next episode of Breakfast with an Alcoholic is likely to appear when you least expect it.3 Last thing: Careful readers are already acquainted with my feelings for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and his newsletter (Kareem). I do know, thanks to the excellent analytics available here at Substack, that I’ve generated three (3) subscriptions for “The Captain.” It feels good to give back.4
Happy Friday,
Thanks for Letting Me Share
Just click on that link and share! Also, I’m not going to be a stickler about it being something you heard at an AA Meeting. If you read it, or watched it or heard that people are saying it, that’s all cool! To be honest, if you make it up and it’s good, I’m probably not going to say anything.
I’m advised that this might not be an optimal marketing strategy, but sometimes you just need to be a pirate about things.
Oh, thanks for asking. No, I haven’t heard from Kareem yet.
