I’m grateful for people with a shit-ton of sobriety and who share it. I’m grateful for the power of example. I’m grateful for an afternoon at the museum. I’m grateful for a sunny morning. I’m grateful for what’s in front of me. I’m grateful for today and I’m grateful to be sober.

Five Things… [ That Changed My Mood This Week]
Holly got a spot on last week’s list, but what she wrote yesterday, “Why I Stopped Drinking Alcohol,” was really moving. My perspective on alcohol is mine, I have a ton of respect for anyone who has the strength and clarity to look honestly at what’s serving them, to use Holly’s term. I think the point of this exercise is to live a satisfying, sustainable, service-filled life—sure seems like Holly is a great example of that. If you don’t subscribe to “Release and Gather,” you ought to.
The Misguidance Counselors published an amazing playlist (“No-New Music Friday” hahaha) and ka-boom, they reminded me of a song I really loved (actually more than one). It’s always nice when someone likes the same song as you:
And that led me to re-discover this one—which was 110% one of my alcoholic anthems.1 I listened to this in the bad old days, well, a lot. Man, that guy was very problematic, but I still like his taste in music…2
I saw “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Ummmm. Yes.
My horoscope on Friday. It’s Sunday morning and if “transcending the material world” involves pancakes at the diner shortly, then I’m on the right path.
Don’t forget, it’s the Anyone Anywhere Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous on Tuesday night at 7pm (eastern). This a Beginners-focused, “open” meeting of AA—meaning if you have a desire to stop drinking or just a desire to see what AA is all about, you are very welcome here. Last week we made it through the first half of “Bill’s Story,” and, guess, what, the phone is about to ring! We’ll be reading and discussing Bill’s famous dinner with Ebby, the Ur-story of Alcoholics Anonymous. (here’s more about that dinner! with a voiceover even!). Hope we see you on Tuesday!3

For sure, we will be discussing “Walk-Up Music for Alcoholics,” at a later date.
That guy also referred a lot to that line in “Animal House,” “So you fucked up, you trusted us…”
It’s always cool to come, even if you want to leave your camera turned off.
