SUNDAY GRATITUDE EXTRAVAGANZA
| Five Things…[Songs You Didn’t Think Were About Addiction, But Actually Are] |Hello and Welcome to New Subscribers | “Anyone Anywhere” AA Meeting | From the TFLMS Archives |
I’m grateful for yet another perfect, foggy morning. I’m grateful for a soggy trip to the farmers market and grateful for ramps and radishes. I’m grateful for adventures and swanky umbrellas. I’m grateful for quiet and calm. I’m grateful to be sober today.
This Week:
Five Things…[Songs You Didn’t Think Were About Addiction, But Actually Are]
Hello and Welcome to New Subscribers
“Anyone Anywhere” Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous

Five Things… [Songs You Didn’t Think Were About Addiction, but Actually Are]
Hello and Welcome to all of you new subscribers. I’m not always sure (actually more like roughly never) how people find us, but we’re awfully glad you did. This may be tiresome for the folks who’ve been around for a while, so bear with me. First, introductions! I write under the name TBD, partly to honor the anonymity traditions of AA, but mostly because those are the initials of my actual nickname.1 I started writing this in 2021 and I also post a Daily Gratitude List over on Twitter: @ThanksFLMS:
My sobriety date is October 22, 2019. It took me ten years of trying to finally get my first year of sobriety and that’s what I write about here: How I got sober and how I stay sober—and whatever else amuses/distracts me at that particular moment. I write here on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We do the Saturday Gratitude Round-Up on, ummmm, Saturdays (It’s a collection of what we wrote in the preceding week) and of course, today is the Sunday Gratitude Extravaganza and I’m pretty sure I don’t know what this really is.
I’m very lucky to have my friend Jane writing here with me. She writes The Diary of a Sober Girl on Mondays and Thursdays. Jane is in her second year of sobriety and writes pretty honestly about getting sober in her 20’s and navigating a social life and sobriety in Manhattan. She’s also on Instagram and Twitter.
We also host the podcast Breakfast with an Alcoholic, Big Book Study Groups and we even an AA meeting! (It’s on Tuesday evenings ). We write every day and I know that gets to be a lot. Our aim is to respect your inbox and we really hate to lose subscribers, so if you’re feeling inundated, we’ve set this up so that you can modify your subscription and pick some or all of our offerings.
We started doing the Saturday Gratitude Round-Up so that there was an easy way to catch up with all of the writing during the week. Last thing, we really love hearing from you. Whether it’s likes or comments here, using the swanky Notes feature here on Substack, or just sending an email. I’m at thanksflms@gmail.com and I’d really love to hear from you, particularly if I’ve done or written something that bothers you!
Anyway, we’re surprised and delighted to have you all along. The Big Book says we are not a glum lot, and the idea here is to approach sobriety and addiction and recovery and whatever else is connected, honestly, openly and hopefully not too seriously, and that is a direct request to St. “Lighten Up Francis.”
Thanks for Letting Us Share!
Mark your calendar for Tuesday nights at 7pm (edt) and the “Anyone Anywhere” meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous!
The “Anyone Anywhere” meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous takes place on Tuesday evenings at 7pm (edt). It is an “Open” meeting, meaning all are welcome and that definitely includes you! If you’re curious about what happens at AA meetings or have been looking to check new meetings out, it’s all good with us. We’d love to have you join us.

How about the very first episode of Breakfast with an Alcoholic?
See you on Tuesday!
It meets all of the requirements of nicknames, namely it was bestowed by a third person and was not intended to be flattering.
Another great round-up - thank you - AND yet another mention of the 'swanky umbrella'! This thing is getting SOOOOOOO famous that it needs it own zip code! PICTUUUUUUUURES please! 😉
