Saturday Gratitude Extravaganza ( I Mean "Round-Up")
When You Give a Chimp the Keys...
I’m grateful it’s Saturday morning—my favorite morning of the week. I’m grateful to be up early and watch things lighten up. I’m grateful for newspapers, especially the one that thumps outside the door. I’m grateful for friends who tell you the obvious. I’m grateful to be sober today.
If you live in NY, winter ended about 6 days after the Groundhog did his thing, not six weeks. This is clearly more evidence of the irrefutable acceleration in the passage of time. But that’s not what we’re here for, it’s Saturday and that can mean only one thing:
Sunday Gratitude Extravaganza
The Shape of Things to Come
The premise is this: We got sober and it’s pretty groovy and we want to share how we did it with you.

Why I’m grateful for Step Four
Step 4 can be emotionally draining and challenging, but I can’t wait to be on the other side of it. My sponsor and I did one full one together as practice and what came out of it was – I wasn’t honest about my boundaries, I took things way to personal, yes, I have behaved the same way towards other people…

Moving Edition
Promises, Shromises—-the people you love and who loved you coming back is more than enough ROI. Hearing one of the people you love most in the world call you “Dad,” and ask for your help, well, I’m not sure I could ask for much more than that. So I won’t.

Diary of a Sober Girl: Feb. 2-8, 2023
I am so grateful to be sober today. I’m grateful for quiet moments with Timmy, for how beautiful the sky looked this morning, for my new gratitude journal, for a birthday celebration this weekend, that tomorrow is Friday, for the opportunity to speak at a meeting tomorrow and for a slow-moving morning.

A Moving Experience
When you start to think about how to make amends to the people you love and the people you hurt so badly, well, it can be a little overwhelming. What I’m realizing is that it’s not about grand gestures or tearful, drawn out confessions and pleas for forgiveness—that puts the burden back on them. I realize what I can do is what they probably missed the most…
And there you are—all caught up! And it’s a good thing because there is a brand new episode of Breakfast with an Alcoholic on the way and it’s really fantastic—I get to talk to John West, the author of Lessons and Carols about the power of words and ritual in sobriety, also, he tore up the Alcoholic Lightning Round!
It’s a fantastic, moving book, and you can buy it here:
Lessons and Carols by John West.
And that is officially it, until the release of the much anticipated podcast episode. But until then….
